If you are over 55 and looking for a lifestyle change, Noosa Domain at Noosaville may be right for you. Sales manager Allen Hooper explains the retirement village, diagonally opposite the Noosa Civic complex off Walter Hay Drive, is ideal for residents who are keen to downsize without having to sacrifice their quality, independence or the social aspects they love about their life in the Noosa area.

“All they love about their current life is enhanced in this new lifestyle choice,” Allen explains. He further says the complex’s owner,
Country Club Villages, specifically aims to create “communities that care”, based on the motto “the resident is our greatest feature and the residents’ committee is an important function of the village”.

“Residents offer significant assistance to the overall operation of the village and contribute to a stable village environment with their committee establishing their own meeting agendas to coordinate and organise village activities,” he says. Noosa Domain is just minutes from Noosa hospital and offers comprehensive medical support. Allen says the village is currently sourcing doctors to consult in its medical room and there are five doctors on hand to consult at Noosa Civic, with medical prescriptions able to be picked up daily and returned via a pharmaceutical delivery service each night.

The Community Centre, at the centre of the village, is wheelchair friendly. Its features include a kiosk, bar, hair salon, billiards room, library, dance floor, craft workshop, theatrette, resort-style pool, outdoor barbecue area, gymnasium, bowling green, hobby workshop, communal garden and a pontoon boat moored at the Noosa Marina. Each unit stands independently, has a terracotta tiled roof, reverse-cycle air conditioning and is luxuriously appointed.

The gardens are landscaped and are maintenance free. Allen says making the move into a retirement village may also present financial benefits to future residents. “Downsizing can boost a resident’s bank balance significantly with the sale of a family home,” he explains. “Added to this there are no council rates and no stamp duty to pay.”

Husband and wife management team Brian and Heather Williams describe their vision for the village as being to “create a warm, friendly and positive environment where residents’ independence and wellbeing ensure satisfying, productive lives”. Heather, who started her working career as a secondary school teacher and worked with “at risk” students, has undertaken further study on the notion of “inclusive practice” and has also obtained two human service degrees.

She says that after devoting many years to teaching she is excited to put her “inclusive communities” theory into the field of aged care. “Here we are living out a vision to create a positive and caring community. Our aim is to provide resident satisfaction,” Heather says. “This is achieved by offering high-quality choices while supplying the services and lifestyle choices people are looking for.

“We will work in partnerships with the residents and be open to residents’ comments and suggestions while also working for, and reporting to, our residents. “It is everyone’s ambition to remain
active throughout their life and, at Noosa Domain, we can provide the services and facilities that will allow this to happen. It is a really exciting place to be.”

Brian, who has worked for 24 years in the farming industry and seven in the service industry, says he looks forward to working with Heather to meet the needs of the village’s new residents.
