Stunning by design
The old adage that every day is a holiday truly applies to this 500sqm residence in Palmview where you can enjoy the tropical resort feel without having to leave home. The four-bedroom home was designed and built by James and Kerrie McCartney from Coastalview Homes as their family home.

Leigh Rachow from Ken Guy Buderim says the property, set on 1.2ha at 162 Glenview Rd, is one of a kind and has been built using exceptional materials. The four bedrooms all have ensuites and walk-in robes. The parents’ retreat overlooks the 13m pool and has a large walk-in robe measuring 5.8m long and 2.8m wide. In keeping with the resort feel, the ensuite has a free-standing bath, which takes in the peaceful garden vista.

With a keen eye for detail and practicalities, Kerrie has included
recesses in all the showers and each ensuite has heated towel rails. The gourmet kitchen features Smeg appliances and a substantial walk-in pantry with room for a fridge, and a separate wine cellar. Adjoining the kitchen is a dining/ living space, with a Heatmaster gas fireplace and eye-catching metal metallic tiles used as a feature wall.

Porcelain 800x800mm tiles are used in the living areas and seamlessly flow through to the pavilion entertainment area, which has a built-in gas barbecue and cabinets. The area is covered by a stained ply ceiling, which is slightly raised above the home’s roofline to ensure good ventilation even on the warmest of days.

Kerrie and James say they are impressed with how easily the home stays cool in summer and warm in winter, with the fully-ducted airconditioning ensuring an even temperature in quick time. Other conveniences include an office, family room and study area, walk-in linen cupboard, large laundry with excellent storage and outdoor undercover drying area. The property also has a separate fiveroom studio and stables at the rear of the block.
